Practice plan outlines are all different. The one common thread is that all practice plan outlines help the writer answer the five “W” questions: who, what, when, where, and why. What you want to do when investigating anything is to answer the five “W’s.” A practice plan outline is a concrete method for analyzing a practice idea, so answering the five “W’s” makes sense.
Physiatry Practice Plan Outline of the Five “W’s”:
Who are you?
Your practice plan outline should detail your certifications, clinical experience, and credentials. List the practice credential you’ve already received or those you’re planning on getting in the early stages. This part of the practice plan outline also lists the staff you project needing and their qualifications.
What do you plan on offering?
In your practice plan outline, you need to discuss what it is you are offering. Are you selling products, services, or both? Once you know what you are offering, you need to discuss your products’ and/or services’ revenue and profit. This part of the practice plan outline also includes your preliminary sales and marketing plan. What will you do to gain your patients? And how much time and money will you spend doing so?
When did you launch?
Or when do you plan on launching? This information is critical to outside observers, and it will also help to keep you on track.
Where are you located?
Here, you will indicate the types of facilities needed to run your practice. Will you work out of the hospital or rent office space? There are advantages and disadvantages to both options. Here’s a list of overhead costs to consider.
Why is your approach unique?
This is a critical question that your practice plan outline must address. You need to explain your number one differentiator. Somewhere in your practice plan outline, you must make space for detailing the proposition that sets you apart from everyone else in the market.
The bottom line on the practice plan outline: Practice plan outlines help you structure your answers to the essential practice plan in question. These questions can be summarized as the five “W’s.” By answering these questions, your practice plan outline will lead you to discover, in detail, the exact how of your overall practice operations.
